David Particularly your last point seems so American. In the States workers 
who do the job have so much more knowledge about what it takes  many times 
to keep from screwing up, than management does. However, most often they are 
not consulted. In my job I continually reminded the boss to ask the worker. 
Most often the bosses were surprised what they learned when they asked. Then 
they would go back to playing boss. Not  master servant so much as "me 
Tarzan, you Jane".  Don Ward
